Oat Bran is the nutrient-dense outer husk of oat grain and is a good source of fiber and protein. Soluble fiber from foods such as oat bran, as part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol, may reduce the risk of heart disease. A serving of NOW Real Food® Organic Oat Bran supplies 2 grams of the 3 grams soluble fiber from oat bran necessary per day to have this effect.
Directions: To use as a hot cereal, simmer 2/3 cup of oat bran in 2 cups of water for 2 minutes, while stirring. Add salt, raisins or flavors to suit taste. Serves two. Optional: Add 1 tsp. of olive oil or avocado oil for added smoothness.
