Devil’s Claw root was introduced to Europe in the mid 1900s where the dried roots were used for a wide range of imbalances, especially for conditions that cause joint discomfort.* The extract contains a range of Iridoid glycosides, including harpagoside found in the root, which was first isolated from Devil’s Claw. Folklore recognizes the claw-like seeds which resemble a rheumatic hand, which gives a hint to the use of this herbal extract.
