Chiotsan itself is a fiber derived from the chitin in shells of shrimp, lobster, and other shellfish. Unrefined chitosan has been used to soak up oil spills. More purified chiotsan can be taken as a supplement to block fat absorption. LipoSan Ultra™ Chitosan from Natural Balance has been clinically researched, is faster-acting, more soluble, and has been shown in certain studies to bind more fat than regular chitosan. It also has a positive effect on blood lipid levels and stool formation.
Directions: Take four capsules before lunch and four capsules before dinner. As with any form of fiber, drink at least eight glasses of water per day.
